EVOLUTION
Unfiltered has found it's groove. With the addition of a beautiful desk, and the elimination of the phone calls, Rick continues to slowly mold the show into what he says " will be as good as anything on network tv."  Rick feels he can focus more without the distracting calls.
During episode 36, after one of his trademark rants Rick said, " I don't want to go off any more tonight it's hot in here." He then reached for a stack of his internet joke printouts. At this point, cameraman Mike yelled "come on, just one more!" Well, Rick gave us one more, It was the funniest rant of the night!!

Our first episode aired Sept. 7, 2006.  The original object of the one hour live show, was to talk to teenagers and hear their thoughts about so called "adult" subjects.  Adequate education, diversity, and Iraq were some of the big topics at the time.  The show evolved quickly.  We changed the set after episode 3.  Rick kept coming up with more and more hair-brained ideas.  Crew call started one night when Rick decided to turn the cameras around and show everyone "behind the curtain".  Rick makes sure that  the viewers know his volunteer crew is very important.  A flashback segment was added with news clips from 30 years ago.  Included in the flashback Rick reads the old Mike Blastos says ads from the 70's.  Episode 10 saw the birth of the call-ins and we were on our way.  Episode 11 gave the crew and the viewers a chance to ask Rick anything. This was a very funny and interesting show.  Rick refers to this episode as the "meet Rick" episode.  Probably his favorite show to date.  We managed to put together a "fair" Thanksgiving special. the highlight was a great interview with Johnny Irion and Sarah Lee Guthrie.  Sarah Lee is Arlo's youngest daughter. Rick was on cloud nine as Arlo has always been one of his favorite musicians.  Teenage guests were interesting, but weren't as open and honest as Rick had thought they would be.  The age limit was eliminated and the theme of the show shifted to "real people, being themselves".  Rick still had more crazy ideas.  So, on Mar. 8, 2007 we went to 90 minutes.  On one of the coldest days of the year, we shot the episode in a 50 degree studio because, the furnace was broke at the station.  A cd review was also added to help fill the extra 30 minutes.  Rick brings a cd from his collection and talks about them. The first cd was AJ Croce's debut album published in 1993.  Rick promises to keep pushing the envelope and speaking his mind, so even we never know what will happen next.
